COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DICTIONARY, ENGLISH, TYPE II
(MINIMUM 150,000 ENTRIES)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description, for all Federal agencies.
Scope. This description covers single volume, hard cover dictionaries which are used as reference sources for English language words.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
A. The dictionary shall:
1. Identify the publisher and these individuals or organizations having major editorial and contributory responsibilities.
2. Be the publisher’s latest copyrighted edition.
3. Have had entries added and updated within 3-year period prior to the Invitation for Bid.
4. Have been rewritten (revised) on a page-by-page basis at least once in the 12-year period prior to the Invitation for Bid.
5. Have no less than the indicated number of entries, each entry including main entry words, each defined part of speech of the main entry, inflected forms of the main entry word, run-on entries, variant spellings, idioms, and words with affixes.
